As
part of efforts to meet evolving technology demands of today's digital age, a 2-GigaByte
(GB) Bandwidth Capacity Data Center has been commissioned at the College of
Medicine, Idi-Araba Campus of the University of Lagos. This
latest addition to projects commissioned under the Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe-led
administration is a wireless backhaul link from Main-One
distribution of the Wi-Fi network at the College of Medicine. The
project delivered by Primetouch Technologies is a donation of the African
Center of Excellence Drug Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science
(ACEDHARS), UNILAG, jointly financed by the World Bank and French Development
Agency (AFD) under the ACE IMPACT plan.Speaking
at the Commissioning Ceremony held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the Center
Leader of ACEDHARS, Dr. Bolanle Ade-Ademilua, highlighted the importance of the
new Data Center. She noted that the new innovation will offer optimal network
performance that will ensure the availability of internet services on the
Idi-Araba Campus. According
to her, “the need to design a strong internet system was borne out of the desire
to solve issues such as bad internet experience within the University. This
became imperative after several factors including network design; topology among
others limited the network from providing a seemingly good experience to
support the modern-day work and learning experience of staff and students on
the Campus.The
Managing Director of Primetouch Technologies, Dr. Tokunbo Omolokun corroborated
Dr. Ade-Ademilua’s assertion as well lauded the University for its commitment
towards supporting qualitative and resourceful learning, research and
development by opening new frontiers in the areas of Information Technology. In
his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe FAS

the ACEDHARS team for the laudable initiative and for keying into the vision of
