Vice-Chancellor Hands Over ACEDHARS Site To Contractors

Vice Chancellor hands over site paper to MD, Integrated Engineering Projects Limited
The African Center of Excellence on Drugs, Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science (ACEDHARS) took a giant leap in its mission to support education, its partners and stakeholders as its proposed building site was officially handed-over to contractors on Monday, April 3, 2023.The handing over ceremony which was held along the Tafawa Balewa Way beside the Department of Chemical Engineering,was performed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, FAS accompanied by members of the University Management Team.Professor Ogunsola commended ACEDHARS for the initiative. According to her, the project is one that would provide support in the production of standard herbal products, assist faculties’ research works as well as enhance information database for quality control and post-marketing surveillance.On the architectural aspiration of the University, she averred that “the mission is to see that new structures make a statement which invariably aligns with the legacy of past leadership of the institution. Our founding fathers had iconic buildings. In the last few years we have ensured that our buildings make a statement, not just in terms of aesthetics but also quality of structure.”Centre-Leader, ACEDHARS, Dr. Bolanle Ade-Ademilua in her remarks, spoke extensively on the Centre’s research objectives. She posited that the Centre programs are focused not only on herbal medicines but also on drug research, assessments and regulations based on expertise of members drawn from the Departments of Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology.Dr. Ade-Ademilua emphasized that the facility would serve as platform for promoting inventions and solutions that would facilitate sustainable development and global competitiveness in Africa.Arc. Stephanie Agharghar representing the Project Consultant, Nath and Polam International Limited highlighted the key features of the two-storey edifice.
